The videos on this website are in Quicktime 7 format and as such require the latest version of Apple Quicktime to be installed on your computer. If you only hear sound or do not see a video image at all then you may need to install this program.

The Quicktime Player program can be downloaded completely free of charge and is very safe to download so long as you get it from this link http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download

If you find the video is stopping and starting then please just wait for the whole film to download (you will see the grey progress bar) and then click play. It will then play smoothly all the way through as a temporary copy will have been placed on your computer.

Additional Notes for Windows Users

Microsoft likes to make things difficult for anything 'Apple' related so you may get this scary looking warning come up on screen when you load up a page with a 'quicktime movie' on it.

warning 01

Just click where it says and you will get this warning.

warning02

Just click again and it will start installing the program to help you play the video.
Despite the 'Secutiry Warnings' this is perfectly safe as the download comes from the Apple Website itself!

warning 03

Now it will try and install the Quicktime Player itself, all should go fine from here but it may come up with another warning telling you to go to the Apple site and download directly, like this.

warning4

Just click 'yes' and you will be taken to the Apple website. You just then need to downlaod the latest Quicktime Player from that page. Remember the download is FREE and you do NOT have to install iTunes as well, just choose the QuickTime player only box, also you do NOT have to give an email address!

Then you'll get this final security warning box.

warning5

Click 'RUN' and within 30seconds to a couple of minutes you will have the free Quicktime Player working just fine and can enjoy a wealth of high quality video content from across the Internet!

All the downloads and links are done automatically between Microsoft and Apple so are totally safe.

Then refresh the Design Scotland Video page (F5 on a PC or Alt-R on a Mac) and you should now see Video :)
